Two army porters were injured in cross-border firing in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
Reports said that several rounds were fired from across the border in Shahpur sector of the district.
Two porters working with the army were injured, they said.
The injured, identified as Muhammad Farooq and Mushtaq Ahmad – both residents of Mandi tehsil – were shifted to District Hospital Poonch for treatment.
An army spokesman said that Pakistan army initiated “unprovoked and indiscriminate firing” of small arms and automatics from 11:45 am.
Indian army retaliated strongly and effectively. Firing stopped at 11:55am,” he said.
