Agriculture Deptt organizes ‘New India Manthan: Sankalp-Se-Siddhi Programme’

UDHAMPUR: Agriculture Department today  organized  a programme on “New India Manthan: Sankalp Se Siddhi” at Conference Hall, DC Complex.

MLA Udhampur, Pawan Gupta, MLA Chenani, Dina Nath Bhagat, ADDC, Arvind Sharma, Chief Agricultural Officer, Naresh Kumar Dubey besides various district officers were  present on the occasion.

The main objective of holding the programme was to create a New India that would be stronger and more prosperous besides commemorating 75 years of the Quit India Movement.

Speaking on the occasion, the legislators stressed on the importance of the comprehensive strategy adopted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare in bringing the visionary idea into reality by the year 2022.

They also briefed the stakeholders about various  important Government schemes like Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana, National Food Security Mission and Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana, Gokul mission, etc. which have been launched to improve the economical status of the farmers.

It was informed that the Government is focusing on seven point strategies for making Sankalp se Siddhi a reality  which include  focus on irrigation along with adequate resource building,  increasing the production through improved seeds, planting materials, organic farming and Soil Health Card, strengthening warehousing and cold chain facilities to curb post-harvest losses, value addition through food processing, overcoming deficiencies in agriculture marketing through e- NAM, Work on institutional loan to reduce risk and growth of agriculture sector  and development of allied activities of agriculture like dairy development, poultry, bee-keeping, agro-forestry and integrated farming system.

Chief Agriculture Officer Udhampur, N.K.Dubey, said that crop insurance and diversification of farm enterprises are critical components for securing and enhancing farm income in rural areas. Stressing on the need for  equipping farmers with good quality seeds, organic fertilizers and irrigation facilities to increase their income, the CAO said that  a target oriented strategy needs to be planned at Panchayat level. He further advised the farmers to avail full benefit of these programmes and asked them to adopt new agricultural practices.

At the end, all the participants including the farmers took a pledge (Sankalp) to build a new and stronger India by 2022(Siddhi).
