New Delhi: Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) launch a facelift of its compact sedan Xcent, starting at Rs 5.38 lakh (petrol) and Rs 6.28 lakh (diesel) on Thursday.
The 2017 Xcent is just a cosmetic upgrade of the old model, much like what the Grand i10 received in February, but there is also a new bigger diesel engine.
The new compact sedan has been redesigned much in line with Hyundai’s Fluidic Design philosophy.
It gets sharper, chrome-edged grille, with horizontal chrome slats replacing the honeycomb mesh. The boot lid gets a triangular taillamps wrapped around and connected with a chrome slat running across the lid.
2)Under the bonnet, the petrol motor of Xcent remains the same – 1.2-litre generating 83PS @ 6000 rpm and 114 Nm torque @ 4000 rpm, when mated to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox.
As expected, Hyundai has upgraded the diesel mill from the 71PS, 1.1-litre engine to a bigger 1.2-litre one that churns out 75PS of power.
3)On the inside, the new Xcent gets a 7-inch audio-video and navigation console, shark-fin antenna, LED daytime-running-lamps at the fog lamp socket only in the top two trims– SX and SX(O). A smartphone docking point, similar to what the Ford Figo Aspire Sports version received last week, has also found its way on the dash.
4)Hyundai Xcent falls in the very competitive compact sedan segment, where the average prices are between Rs 5.30 lakh and Rs 5.40 lakh. The closest competition to the Xcent is the new Tata Tigor, until the new Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire makes its way to the market.
