Arab League expresses concern on ‘Human Rights violations’ in Kashmir, Palestine

Pakistan Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit have expressed “grave concern” on the situation in Palestine and Jammu & Kashmir, especially the ongoing “atrocities and attacks on civilians in two territories by security forces”, Pakistan media reported on Tuesday.

The two leaders held a meeting on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Asif congratulated the Secretary-General on his dynamic leadership of the organization while lauding the role of Arab League in establishing stability within the Muslim World, the reports said.
On the occasion, Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace especially among the Muslim states.
Acknowledging Pakistan’s fraternal relations with Arab League members, the Secretary-General opined that Pakistan can play in addressing the challenges confronted by the Muslim world.
