BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 20:- Minister for Horticulture, Syed Basharat Bukhari convened a meeting of officers here today to review the arrangements put in place by the district administration for upcoming Muharram-ul-Haram.
The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash, SE PHE, JDP, Engineers of line Departments, representatives of various Shia Associations from Sopore, Pattan, Uri, Delina, Sangrama besides other district and sectoral officers.
On the occasion the DDC, informed the Minister about the arrangements made in view of the Muharram by different departments. Moreover, emphasis was laid on providing uninterrupted power and water supply, ration and other essential commodities, sanitation besides threadbare discussion on security plan was also held during the meeting. Availability of medical teams and ambulances was also mentioned during the meeting. The meeting was informed that repair of inner link roads where processions are going to be held during the Muharram days have also been completed.
Assistant Director CA&PD also informed the meeting that the additional quota of ration supply have been reserved besides supplying agencies have already been directed to keep availability of additional LPG Gas cylinders in the district.
Municipal Committee and PDD were directed to ensure that the street lights are functional on the roads leading to Imaambaras.
To ensure cleanliness and hygiene, the Minister directed for deployment of additional man power at the venues where big processions are expected.
Discussion was also held over the availability of firewood, regarding which the Minister directed the concerned department to dump additional quotas and ensure that dry firewood is available. Meanwhile, he directed all the concerned Officers to complete all pending arrangements on priority.
