IIT for Kashmir to be taken up with Centre at appropriate time: Naeem

Srinagar: Minister for Education, Mr. Naeem Akhter today informed the House that Centre had announced setting up of IIT in Jammu, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. He said that Centre has also decided to open an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Jammu and Kashmir.

Replying to a question of Er. Rashid, the Minister said that Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan Package for the state inter-alia mentions establishment of IIM Jammu, with possibility of out camps in Kashmir Valley. He said as such the matter would be taken up with the Central Government at appropriate time after establishment of main campus at Jammu.

The Minister said that the issue with regard to IIT for Kashmir valley, may also be taken up with Central Government on similar lines at appropriate time.
