DDC Sgr convenes meeting

Srinagar | June 23 : The Tangnar Water supply scheme costing Rs.  148.37 crore with a capacity of 10 MGDL is being commissioned shortly making total available water supply of 90 MGDL in District Srinagar. This was revealed in the meeting of PHE and I&FC convened under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Srinagar today.

Moreover to ensure 100% availability of drinking water, the officers of PHE Deptt. were asked to focus on some areas viz; Dandharkha, Saidpora and Harwan(Dhara) to ensure safe drinking water supply.  The officers were further directed to complete the WSS (Water Supply Schemes) in rural areas.in a time bound period.

While reviewing the irrigation facilities, the SE I&FC was asked to implement the decision of the Govt. in convergence with MGNREGA to clean various irrigation khuls in District Srinagar. Serious note was taken of by the District Development Commissioner, Srinagar regarding illegal construction of toilet blocks by some residents of Srinagar especially on Sindh extension canal and Markus canal. The concerned officers were directed to furnish the list of those households, & start demolition drive in this regard.

District Development Commissioner, Srinagar was informed that mechanical dredging works are in progress in Shivpora and panzinara sectors. He directed for expediting the dredging and desilting of Jhelum and Flood Spill Channel.

He also directed the officials to ensure that no constructions are raised along the Jhelum Banks. Demolition drives be conducted to remove all such existing structures with the fixed time frame.
