SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 8: Smt. Usha Vohra, First Lady, inaugurated a 5 day All India Painter’s Camp at Chashma Shahi here today. This Camp has been organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages (JKAACL).
Mrs. Vohra, who herself is a keen photographer and an ardent lover of art, welcomed the participants and observed that she will be looking forward to see the works done by the participating artists during this 5 day camp. She suggested to Dr. Hajini to take the artists on a sightseeing tour of the Valley which abounds in inspiring natural landscapes.
Mrs. Vohra urged Dr. Hajini to take all required steps for preserving the State’s invaluable cultural heritage and to display, throughout the year, all the rare paintings and works of great art which comprise JK Academy’s permanent collection.
Mrs. Vohra wished the artists success in their creative endeavours and urged Dr. Hajini to provide them all necessary facilities for their comfortable stay in Srinagar.
Sh. Pramod Jain, Vice Chairman and Director General IMPA, who was the Guest of Honour on the occasion, emphasised the need for taking a more vigorous and proactive approach being pursued for the promotion of art in the State.
Earlier, all the participating artists were introduced to the First Lady and expressed their happiness at being involved to this Camp.
The Welcome Address and Vote of Thanks was given by Dr. Aziz Hajini, Secretary JKAACL and Sh. Mohammad Ashraf Tak, Chief Editor Urdu, JKAACL, respectively.
