Leh, Jul 16 : The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal would hold sittings here on July 20 and July 22 in pursuant to declare the Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) as an unlawful association.
An official spokesperson said that pursuant to the declaration of JeI as an unlawful association, the Unlawful Activities Prevention Tribunal will hold sittings at Leh (Ladakh) on July 20 and 22 at District Court Complex, Skampari near DC office from 1030 hrs onwards.
“All those who are interested in giving evidence may file their affidavit (in duplicate) with Registrar Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal, Delhi High Court Building, Sher Shah Road, New Delhi and shall remain present in person on the aforementioned date for cross-examination, if any, before the Tribunal,” he added.
The centre in March this year banned JeI for five years, accusing it of supporting militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. Over 300 JeI leaders and activists were also arrested in state after a suicide bomber killed 40 CRPF personnel on February 14 on Srinagar-Jammu national highway in south Kashmir.
