Srinagar: Two militants were killed in an encounter in south Kashmir’s Pulwama on Thursday morning. The gunfight started at Newa village in the volatile Pulwama, 25 km south from the summer capital Srinagar.
“Two militants have been killed in the gunfight,” said SP Pulwama Rayees Muhammad.
“When the suspected house was cordoned off, militants opened fire on the security forces, triggering a gunfight,” a police official said.
Reports reaching from the area said that as soon as the encounter started, the local village youth took to the streets and started a protest.
