Veeri chairs DDB review meeting at Pulwama

Asks officers to ensure targeted development; Disburses Rs 2.70 cr among 2476 beneficiaries registered with JK Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board
PULWAMA, AUGUST 24: Minister for Revenue, Relief, Rehabilitation and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri today asked the officers to ensure targeted development by prioritizing and working upon core competencies of district Pulwama so that tangible results are realized on the ground level. The minister said that livestock and horticulture are the two sectors having the potential to transform the economic landscape of the district.
The Minister was speaking at the review meeting of the District Development Board (DDB) Pulwama. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Forests Zahoor Ahmad Mir, MLA Pulwama Mohammad Khaleel Bandh, MLA Tral Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, HODs of various departments, Chief Engineers and all the district officers.
DDC Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar apprised the meeting about various developmental activities undergoing in the district through a power point presentation.
Mr Veeri took a comprehensive review of the progress made in various projects and decisions of the last board meeting and took stock of sectoral, physical and financial achievements registered under the District Plan 2017-18 and stressed for timely completion of ongoing works in the district.
Revenue Minister directed the concerned authorities to achieve the targets set under National Saffron Mission within 3 months especially the construction of tube wells and sprinkle irrigation system so that the Saffron land may be rejuvenated.
The Minister directed health authorities to augment the infrastructure in the PHCs in different constituencies so that Health issues of the people living in far flung areas are addressed.
Mr Veeri also asked the administration to pace up construction of circular road Pulwama so that it could be completed in stipulated time besides shifting old bus stand to new one.
Horticulture department was directed to sensitize orchardists about the benefits of high density Apple plantations and encourage its plantation.
The Chairman stressed upon district administration to focus on building social infrastructure like education, health and sanitation to produce quality human resource in the district which is vital for changing the socio-economic scenario of the district
He further asked the district administration that no stone should be left unturned in realizing the goals and targets envisaged in annual plan so as to ensure maximum benefits to the people. He praised the officers of the Pulwama district in discharging their duty with dedication and great zeal of enthusiasm.
The Minister said that Agriculture and its allied sectors vital for growth of rural economy should be targeted to tap their optimum potential on a sustainable basis.
MLA Pampore and Minister of State for Forests Zahoor Ahmad Mir, MLA Tral and MLA Pulwama also projected various developmental issues of their concerned constituencies. During the meeting MLA Tral announced to provide Rs 1 crore out of his CDF for the construction of Mini Secretariat complex at Tral. The decision was widely appreciated in the meeting.
The R&B Department informed the meeting that 142.95 kms of road length was macadamized this year in district so far against the target of 208 kms. They also said that construction major bridges like Mogalpora, Muchpona, Zahidbagh and Chandrigam Tral were completed so far.
The Flood Control Department informed the meeting that dredging has been taken up from Sethar to Sempora at a cost of Rs 15.55 crore and 221 damaged spots were restored on this patch.
Similarly Rural development Department informed the meeting that 1130 works have been completed so far against the target of 1582 which generated 2.30 lacs job days for 43945 job card holders.
Later, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Abdul Rehman Veeril presided over a function organized by Labor Department Pulwama wherein he distributed cheques worth Rs 27080067 among 2476 beneficiaries registered with JK Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
