Mysterious braid chopping continues in Bhaderwah, triggers fear

Two more incidents of mysterious braid chopping of two married women were reported from Pounra and Thubba villages of Bhadarwah on Tuesday, triggering fear in the area.
With these two cases, the total number of braid chopping incidents has risen to six in less than a week.
Shilpa Devi (22), wife of Anil Kumar, a resident of Pounra-Manthala said she fell unconscious after noticing a shadow near her at 6:30am.
“I came out of my house to collect fodder, suddenly I noticed a shadow near me. I turned back but there was no one there, then suddenly I started feeling dizzy. I tried to call for help but was unable to do so. When I regained my senses, my braid was gone,” said Devi.
In the second case reported today, 36-year-old Romesha Devi, a resident of Thubba village also had her braid mysteriously chopped.
“We have activated all our resources and have increased vigil especially in rural areas, but we are still clueless as none of the victims so far have seen anyone and except braid chopping there is not even a single bruise found on any of the victims,” said a senior police officer at Bhadarwah.
