Inaugurates development works at Gandhi Nagar Constituency
JAMMU, SEPTEMBER – 20: Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today emphasized active public participation in Swachhata Hi Seva Hai movement to achieve the goal of a clean nation.
Speaker said that volunteers, self-help groups and NGOs have enthusiastically dedicated themselves towards cleanliness initiatives and asked the public to contribute their part in 18 day long nationwide sanitation campaign Swachhata Hi Seva Hai which would be a real tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Gandhi Jayanti.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating a Public Toilet Complex constructed with Rs.20.64 lakh by Sulabh International Social Service Organization at Channi Himmat, the Speaker said that the government is committed to provide a clean and healthy environment to the people and various initiatives under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan have been taken to fulfil this social objective. He said that cleanliness initiatives across the nation have gained a huge momentum ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Swachh Bharat mission.
The Speaker said that proper sanitation facilities are vital at public places for maintaining a healthy environment. The government is endeavoring hard to further strengthen sanitation infrastructure across the state with focus on vulnerable spots.
Reiterating his commitment of all round development of Gandhi Nagar constituency, the Speaker said several projects are under way to provide enhanced basic amenities including better sanitation to the people.
Pertinently, on the 15th of September, President Ram Nath Kovind had launched the fortnight-long ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ (Cleanliness is Service) campaign from Uttar Pradesh. The campaign was aimed at highlighting the Narendra Modi government’s flagship cleanliness initiative ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’
Earlier, the Speaker inaugurated construction of road along Saw Mill in Deshmesh Nagar, Digiana and adjoining links constructed by PW(R&B) Department costing Rs.1.22 crore.
The Speaker said that it is the priority of Government to provide better road connectivity in every locality as road communication is vital for marching towards a developed society, he added.
Members of Sulabh International Social Service Organization, senior functionaries of JMC and PWD besides senior leader Baldev Baloria and Brig. Anil Gupta and were present on the occasion.
