PULWAMA, APRIL 26: Under the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin (SBM-G), rural Pulwama district has been declared as ODF District in the State.
In this regard, a grand function was today organized by Rural Development Department in meeting Hall at DC office Complex Pulwama.
District Development Commissioner Ghulam Mohammad Dar was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking at the event District Development Commissioner said, “On 2nd October 2014, Prime Minister started the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Today, it has become a true people’s movement and Sanitation Revolution in true essence. People of Pulwama, the government officials and representatives of other institutions have contributed towards this milestone.” DDC further said that Collaborative community participation has led Pulwama to achieve this ODF status.
Dar further said, “We have won the battle and liberated ourselves from the menace of open defecation.”
He appreciated the concerned department and it’s field functionaries who have worked in mission mode to complete their due assignments with a great sense of responsibility in making this district Open Defecation Free.
The function was attended by Joint Director Planning, Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Block Development Officers, Village Level Workers and large no. of beneficiaries.
Later on, DDC distributed cheques among the beneficiaries under SBM.
