A cloud burst has been reported on the Shamswari ridge, District Kupwara, due to which water is flowing downwards towards Tanghdar area. Quantum of water and threat to population is being assessed.
Secretary Disaster Management Farooq Ahmed Shah directed District Administration Kupwara and SDM Karnah to ensure safety of the local population and if necessary, the affected population alongwith their movable property be evacuated by to safer locations.
DC Kupwara has accordingly issued an alert and directed SDM Karnah, Police, SDRF and Volunteers to provide necessary help to the affected people.
Army has also been asked to provide support to the civil administration.
So far there are no reports of any loss. Situation is being monitored at the highest level.
