Srinagar, Aug 14: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Tuesday condemned the attack on JNU student leader Umar Khalid in New Delhi terming it “another incident of communal vandalism”.

“These communal and fascist forces have never tolerated the existence of those standing for peace, justice and equal rights and anybody, individually or collectively, who raise their voice and show some concern about the basic and fundamental rights are being targeted, assaulted, tortured and even killed,” Geelani said in a statement issued to GNS.

He said that “majoritarian hegemony and highhandedness has crossed all the limits and the monster of intolerance and hatred is growing bigger and bigger with each passing day”.

“Saffron brigade at the behest and encouragement of rogues in power have made the life of every sane and conscious person miserable,” he said.

APHC (G) chairman, according to statement, “cautioned Indian rulers that this lawlessness and hooliganism, if not checked and stopped, will have catastrophic effects on the very existence of India”.

Meanwhile, Geelani said, “Indian Independence Day has always brought countless miseries, unending night raids, continuous harassment, the arrest of youth, and has created a suffocating environment for the people of Kashmir.” (GNS)
