Two militants were killed in a gunfight with the government forces at a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday evening, police said.
A police official said that joint teams of army, CRPF and SOG personnel laid a seige around a cluster of houses in Khudpora village of Shopian around 7:00 pm.
As the forces started a door to door search operation, the militants hiding in a house opened fire on him, triggering an encounter, he said.
Two militants were killed in the gunfight, said the official. He identified them as Irfan Ahmad R/o Bundzoo Pulwama and Showkat Ahmad R/o Herman Shopian.
