Militant hideout busted near Reyaz Naikoo’s area

Srinagar, Dec 26: (GNS) During a massive cordon-and-search operation (CASO), government forces busted a militant hideout on Wednesday morning at Bhaderwan area adjacent to Hizbul Mujahideen commander Reyaz Naikoo’s house in Awantipora area of south Kashmir.

Reports reaching GNS said that a joint team of army’s 55 RR, 44 RR, CRPF and SOG laid a siege at Bhaderwan, Awantipora today early morning.

After conducting searches for several hours, the joint team of forces busted a militant hideout and recovered a gas cylinder weighing 5 kg, a blanket and some utensils and eatables, they said.

The hideout was situated adjoining the village where the top militant commander Reyaz Naikoo is residing.

Later on, the joint team of forces laid siege in the area. Authorities had snapped the internet services in the police district as there were apprehensions about the possibility of an encounter.

A police officer also confirmed the incident and recovery of stuff from the hideout. (GNS)
