A PDD employee dies due to electrocution in Baramulla
Baramulla, Jan 21: (UNI) An employee of Power Development Department (PDD) died due to electrocution in this north Kashmir district on Monday, official sources said.
They said a PDD employee identified as Mohammad Sultan was repairing an electric line when he suddenly got in contact with a live wire. Sultan was critically wounded and was immediately shifted to hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Police has registered a case and initiated proceedings.
Scores of PDD employees, mostly contractual and casuals have lost their lives due to electric shock when they were working without any safety gadgets.
Despite protests by PDD employees the department has failed to provide them safety gadgets in the valley.
