SMC Deputy Mayor assaulted during councilor meet in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 21: (UNI) Srinagar Municipal corporation (SMC) Deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran was on Monday injured in an alleged attack by a councilor during a meeting in Srinagar.
Official sources said that a councilor and Mr Imran entered into a heated argument over some issue during a meeting of SMC in Srinagar on Monday. “The verbal argument escalated following which the councilor allegedly threw some object at the Deputy Mayor,” they said.
“Mr Imran was injured in the attack. He was immediately taken to a hospital,” they said.
They said police has registered a case and initiated investigation into the incident.
