Shopian shuts against killing of 3 HM militants

Srinagar, Jan 23 (UNI) Life was on Wednesday affected in Shopian in south Kashmir, where three Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants, including brother of an Indian Police Officer (IPS), were killed in an encounter by security forces on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, mobile internet of all Cellular companies, including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) also remained suspended for the second day in the district as a precautionary measure to prevent spread of any rumours.
Though there was no strike call from any organizations, shops and business establishments remained closed today in Shopian. Traffic was also off the roads. However, some private vehicles were seen plying on some routes in the town.
Work in government offices and banks was also affected. Tuition and coaching centres also remained closed as a precautionary measure.
Three HM militants were killed in an encounter by security forces at Heff Shermal in Shopian yesterday. A soldier was also injured in the encounter.
However, situation elsewhere in the south Kashmir was normal.
