Train service resumes in Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb 4: (UNI) Train service was resumed on Monday after remaining suspended for security reasons on Sunday in the Kashmir valley, where separatists had called for a general strike against Prime minister Narendra Modi’s visit who inaugurated and laid foundation stone of various development projects besides two medical colleges in the state.
A fresh advisory was received last night to resume train service in the Kashmir valley on Monday, a senior railway official told UNI this morning.
Therefore, he said, trains will chug on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-
We are acting on the advice of local administration who are taking decision keeping in view the security and safety of the passengers, railway officials and property, he said adding in the past railway property suffered losses in violence.
He said trains will witness heavy rush in the morning today when people are resuming their normal activities after Sunday.
Train service has become very popular in the valley as it is being considered cheap, safe and fast as compared to other mode of transport available in the valley.
