JU VC releases Indian Constitution’s Dogri version, says lang is nation’s pride
Jammu, Feb 5: (UNI) Terming Dogri ”pride” of the state as well as the nation, Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu on Tuesday called for initiatives to propagate the language, while releasing the Dogri version of the Constitution of India.
The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the sincere and dedicated efforts of the Project team comprising Prof (Dr) Archana Kesar, Department of Dogri, Prakash Premi, Yash Pal Nirmal and Nirmal Vikram, Dogri writers and translators under the guidance of Legal Expert, Prof (Dr) Arvind Jasrotia from the Department of Law, University of Jammu.
This happens to be the first Dogri edition of the Constitution of India.
The text of the Constitution of India, given in this edition, incorporates all amendments up to Constitution (103rd Amendment) Act, 2019.
The present edition of the Constitution of India is being published by the Legislative Department (Official Languages Wing), Ministry of Law and Justice, New Delhi, as part of the implementation of the decision of the Central Government to make available the Constitution of India and other Central Laws to the general public in their own language.
With inclusion of Dogri language in the 8thSchedule of the Constitution of India, a need was felt to translate the Constitution of India in the Dogri language for the benefit of the people of J&K and the project team was constituted to accomplish the objective.
