Jammu Violence: District Administration relaxes curfew in parts of Jammu South for three hours
Jammu, Feb 18: (UNI) The Jammu District administration on Monday announced two hours relaxation in parts of Jammu City where curfew remained imposed for the fourth consecutive day after violence erupted on Friday during a daylong shutdown call by the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries to protest killing of CRPF personnel in Pulwama Attack.
“Curfew will be relaxed in areas falling under five police stations while section-144 to remain imposed in these areas,” Ramesh Kumar, District Magistrate Jammu here told reporters on Tuesday.
He said that curfew shall be relaxed in the areas falling under Police Stations of Gandhi Nagar (except Police Post Nehru Park and Digiana), Channi Himmat, Sainik Colony, Trikuta Nagar and Satwari (except Police Posts of Belicharana and Gadigarh) from 1400 hours to 1700 hours.
“However, restrictions would be in place in these areas under Section-144 on public gatherings,” said the DM.
The DM said that in Jammu North, curfew will be relaxed only after reviewing situation in a phased manner and added, “police is identifying the elements who raised ‘pro-Pak slogans” and “waved Pak flags” while action will be taken against them.”
He added that said official identity cards of the Civil Secretariat Employees and the staff deployed with Essential Services shall be treated as curfew pass to facilitate their movement and added, “in addition Air Tickets, Railway Tickets and Admit Cards for various examinations would be also treated as curfew passes”.
The District Magistrate has urged people to maintain peace and tranquility and do not allow the miscreants to create any trouble in their respective areas.
