Jammu violence: JPPF asks govt to release detained innocent youth

Jammu, Feb 19: (UNI) The members of Jammu Province Peoples Forum on Tuesday asked the government to release innocent youth detained during protests and violence that broke out on Friday during a shutdown call to protest killing of 44 CRPF personnel in the Pulwama terror attack.

While paying tributes to the martyrs in a meeting here, Forum president Paviter Singh said that they condemn the attack and asked govt to take a final call as it is a do or die situation in the country.

?We are unable to understand the kind of policy being followed by the Centre and for how long will our soldiers sacrifice their lives,? said Mr Singh.

Working President of the Forum M S Katoch that city of Jammu is under curfew for the last five days and the people are passing through a tough time.

?The government failed to control the situation and no check was laid on anti-national chanting and sloganeering,” he said. More than 100 innocent youth are detained and thus, it is requested to the administration to release them at the earliest to avoid prevent any untoward incident and further escalation of tension.
