Anantnag, Feb 28: (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police has arrested three drug peddlers during a naka checking in this south Kashmir district, a police spokesman said on Thursday.
He said on a tip off about movement of drug peddlers, police established a naka checking at Tulkhan Bijbehara in Anantnag. During the checking three drug peddlers were arrested and 72 bottles of Codeine were recovered from their possession.
He said the drug peddlers identified as Showkat Ahmad son of Mohamamd Yousuf resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara, Showkat Ahmad son of Wali Mohd resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara and Mohammad Yousuf son of Soimoh Tral were arrested. A case FIR No. 15/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Bijbehara.
Spokesman said community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep your society free from the scourge of drug menace, he said.
