Life returns to normal in down town, SeK Srinagar

Srinagar, Mar 2: (UNI) Life returned to normal on Saturday in the down town and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK), where restrictions were imposed early Friday as a precautionary measure to prevent any demonstration following call by separatists to protest against ban on Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and crackdown on separatists during the past one week.
Meanwhile, historic Jamia Masjid, stronghold of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) chairman Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq, was open for devotees this morning after remaining closed yesterday when all gates were closed.
Security forces and state police personnel deployed in strength to maintain law and order and strictly implement restrictions have been withdrawn. All road blocks in the down town and SeK have been removed.
Shops and business establishments are open on Nallahmar road after remaining closed yesterday due to restrictions. Road blocks established at different places, including Rangar stop, Gojwara, Nowhatta, Rajouri Kadal, Khanyar and Nawa Kadal were removed.
Traffic was also plying on all routes normally in the city.
Jamia market, where large number of security force personnel were deployed yesterday, was open today and shopkeepers are doing normal business.
Situation elsewhere in the summer capital was normal.
