Srinagar, Mar 7: (UNI) Reacting sharply on thrashing of a Kashmiri by saffron-clad members of a right wing outfit in Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, former IAS officer Shah Faesal on Thursday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ban VHP, Bajrang Dal and other extremist organizations.
Mr Faesal, who was the 2009 IAS topper from Jammu and Kashmir, also appealed to United Nations (UN) and US Department of State to designate these (VHP, Bajrang Dal) as terrorist organizations.
Terming the incident extremely deplorable, Mr Faesal these fringe groups have destroyed the secular fabric of the country. “Kashmiris are their latest target. I request @PMOIndia to ban VHP, Bajrang Dal and other extremist organisations. @UN @StateDept should also designate these as terrorist orgs,” Mr Faesal, who resigned in January 2019 from civil services, wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Mr Faesal had resigned in protest against what he called the ‘unabated killings in the state and lack of any sincere reach-out from the Union Government’. The former IAS officer is expected to contest Lok Sabha election though he has not joined any political party.
A video, in which three persons in saffron kurtas were seen thrashing a Kashmiri dry fruit seller in Lucknow in Utter Pradesh, has gone viral on social media, drawing sever criticism in the valley.
