J&K Police refutes reports of its personnel thrashing KU scholar in Srinagar

Srinagar, Mar 15: (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday refuted reports that a Kashmir University (KU) scholar was thrashed by its personnel on Thursday in the summer capital, Srinagar.
A news was circulated on social media and was carried by a section of local media that a KU scholar was allegedly thrashed by policemen after he was hit by a security force vehicle while returning from the university on Thursday evening.
A police spokesperson said that the news being circulated on social media in which it is alleged that cops have thrashed KU scholar is strongly rebutted.
“The concerned police officials have informed that on Thursday evening, an individual exchanged harsh words with the police party deployed for duties at Hazratbal,” he said.
He said later on, with the intervention of the senior officers and other respectable citizens, the matter was amicably resolved and the individual was personally visited by the senior officers. “Some vested interests are blowing the issue out of proportion only to malign the image of Police,” he added.
