2 people arrested for selling adulterated saffron in Srinagar

Srinagar, Mar 18: (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday arrested two accused for selling adulterated saffron on the outskirts of summer capital, Srinagar.
A police spokesperson said that following specific information about replica of saffron, the most costly spice in the world, being sold in Pantha Chowk, a police team was deputed to the area.
He said police arrested an accused, identified as Aarif Ahmed Bakhroo and recovered one kg of adulterated saffron from him.
“On the disclosure of accused, one more person, identified as Umar Ahmed Ghuroo, was arrested by the police party,” he said, adding police has registered a case and initiated investigation to nab other people involved in the crime.
“Police seeks public help in identifying such elements so that they can be punished under law,” he added.
