Baramulla, Mar 26: (UNI) A boy and his sister died due to drowning in a nallah in this north Kashmir on Monday, official sources said today.
They said a 12-year-old boy Mohammad Ashraf and his 8 year-old sister Seerat Jan drowned in a nallah at Shalkote area of Rafiabad in this north Kashmir district on Monday.
However, those present in the area immediately jumped into the nallah but could not save them due to sudden increase in the water level, sources said.
Later troops of Rashitriya Rifles (RR), police and local residents joined the operation to recover the bodie. However, after a long search, body of boy Mohammad Ashraf as fished out. The operation was later called off due to darkness, they said adding this morning the rescue operation was again launched this morning.
They said the body Seerat Jan was recovered on Tuesday.
