JRL calls for strike on April 11 on Ist phase of LS polls in J&K

Srinagar, Apr 10: (UNI) The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a general strike on Thursday when polling will be held in Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency (PC) in the first phase of polls in the Jammu and Kashmir and National Investigation Agency (NIA) action on separatists.
However, the separatist amalgam has asked people to observe strike in their respective areas when there will be polling in other constituencies in the state.
The JRL, comprising chairman of hardline Hurriyat Conference (HC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani, moderate HC chairman Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq, presently being questioned by NIA and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Mohammad Yaseen Malik, arrested today by NIA and shifted him to Delhi in terror funding cases have called for a strike tomorrow, a press release issued here on Wednesday afternoon here.
The strike is also against NIA action against Mirwaiz, Malik and two sons of Geelani and closure of national highway for civilian traffic for two days in a week and recent clashes in Central jail, Srinagar, the release said.
The JRL asked people to observe strike in Srinagar PC, consisting Badgam, Ganderbal and Srinagar district on April 18 only. Anantnag constituency on April 23, 29 and May 6 when polling will be held in three phases.
