Police arrest a burglar, recovered stolen property, cash in Srinagar

Srinagar, Apr 24: (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police solved a burglary case and arrested the accused besides recovered stolen property and cash in Srinagar, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.
He said one Showkat Ahmad Jan, resident of Aarbal, Shalimar reported in police station Harwan that on February 13, 2019 he locked his house and left for Delhi alongwith his family.
However, when he returned yesterday he found cash and jewellery kept in a locker missing.
Spokesman said accordingly a case FIR No. 08/2019 U/S 457,380 RPC was registered and investigation taken up.
An investigation team headed by Station House Officer (SHO) Harwan Zafar Iqbal questioned one person who was working as domestic help in the house few months back.
He said after sustained questioning, suspect confessed the crime and all the stolen jewellery, including two golden sets with three pairs of golden earrings and a cash of Rs 175000 and 2900 USD were recovered on the confession of the accused.
The accused person was arrested in the instant case.
He said the case was solved within six hours, after it was reported to the police.
