DSEK modifies school timing order in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 1: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has modified its school timing order for the summer capital, Srinagar, following sever criticism from Private school associations and parents.
All government and Private schools in Srinagar will now start from 0900 hrs against 0830 hrs as ordered recently in an order issued by DSEK.
An official spokesperson said that in a partial modification of its previous order, DSEK School on Wednesday issued a new order where in the school timing within Srinagar Municipal limits has been change to 0900 hrs to 1500 hrs.
He said the school timing within the Municipal Limits of Srinagar City shall continue to be from 0900 hrs to 1500 hrs. “The order shall be adhered to strictly by all concerned institutions,” he added.
Private Schools’ Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) had on Tuesday strongly condemning the government’s decision to impose early morning timing for schools, alleging that all this was being done so that few government babus and secretariat employees reach their offices comfortably.
“For kids to reach at 0830 hrs to school means that he has to board the bus at around 0700 hrs and wake up and get ready even before that. Imagine a kid as small as four years old has to go through this torture every day along with his parents,” PSAJK chairman G N Var had said.
