Srinagar, May 17: Peoples Conference (PC) on Friday demanded a high level inquiry into use of alleged indiscriminate and disproportionate force by police on people at Pattan, where people were protesting against the rape of a 3-year-old girl in Sumbal Bandipora on May 8.
A delegation of PC led by party chairman Sajad Gani Lone Friday met Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan here and demanded inquiry.
A spokesman of the PC said this afternoon that the delegation demanded a high-level enquiry to investigate why excessive force was used on protestors which resulted in the death of young Arshad Hussain Dar”.
They also urged the Governor to ensure proper rehabilitation of the family of Arshad and also demanded stern punishment for the police personnel responsible for killing of Arshad.
“Those responsible for the inhuman act should be deal strictly to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future,” the party delegation told the Governor.
