J&K: Rs 1.60 lakh scholarship for wards of deceased police personnel granted

Srinagar, May 30: Scholarship worth Rs 1.60 lakh has been granted to the children of deceased Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel in the state.
A police spokesperson said that with an aim to provide financial assistance to wards of deceased police wards, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh granted scholarship in favour of 32 school going wards of such personnel for the academic session 2018-19.
“Rs 5000 each has been granted as scholarship to 32 school going wards of those deceased Police personnel who died while in service due to natural/accidental deaths. Rs 1.60 lakh has been granted out of Central Police Welfare Fund for these scholarships,” he said.
He said those awarded scholarship, included 12 students of Nursery and Primary classes, 14 students of middle and higher secondary classes and six wards pursuing graduation.
“Police Headquarters has been sanctioning scholarships and rewards for wards of martyred/deceased and serving Police personnel under different schemes to financially assist and boost their morale. The scholarships are granted every year for the wards of deceased police personnel to provide them assistance in pursuing education,” he added.
