Srinagar, Jun 11: The Income Tax (IT) department officials on Tuesday raided the house and private offices of Deputy Major of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Sheikh Mohammad Imran in Srinagar, official sources said.
They said IT officials assisted by police raided the private offices of Imran at Bohri Kadal in the down town and Sangarmal city Center shopping complex on Moulana Azad road.
They said searches were underway when reports last came in adding some documents were seized by the IT officials.
Further details are awaited, sources said.
Imran who was elected Deputy Mayor of SMC has later joined Peoples Conference (PC) headed by Sajjad Gani Lone who was minister in the PDP and BJP coalition government from the quota of Saffron party.
