Srinagar, Jun 17: A 17-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal on Monday.
Official sources said that a girl allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at her home in Gund area in Ganderbal on Monday. “Other family members immediately took her to a local health centre from where she was referred to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura,” they said.
However, they said the girl was declared brought dead at the hospital. “After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to her relatives for last rites.
“It was not immediately clear why she took this extreme step,” they said, adding police has registered a case and initiated investigation to ascertain the circumstance which forced her to commit suicide.
