Police in a statement today said that it is further informed that the killed militant has been identified as Hilal Ahmad Bhat of Armulla, Pulwama.
The killed militant as per police records was affiliated with proscribed terror outfit HM and was wanted by law for his complicity in terror crimes including attack on security establishments and civilian atrocities.
According to the Police records, Hilal Bhat had a history of terror crime records since 2017 and was involved in planning and executing several terror attacks in the area. Several terror crime cases were registered against him including Case FIR No. 12/2018 pertaining to damage caused to a vehicle and residential house of a civilian at Niloora, Case FIR No. 33/2018 pertaining to a landmine blast at Gudbug Pulwama.
Incriminating material including arms & ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. All these materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes.
People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials if any.
