Srinagar, Jul 9: A man was shot at and critically wounded by unidentified gunmen in Pampore area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir on Monday night, official sources said on Tuesday.
They said a group of gunmen entered the house of one Mohammad Rafiq Rather at Chandhara, Pampore, in Pulwama last night. However, before the inmates could do anything, gunmen fired upon the 45-year-old Rather from very close range with automatic weapons.
The gunmen escaped under the cover of darkness before security forces and police could reach the spot, they said adding the injured was immediately rushed to local hospital from where he was referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment.
Police has registered a case and initiated proceedings, they said.
