Srinagar, Jul 17: A youth was on Wednesday injured during a protest against dumping of garbage in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
Official sources said that the residents of Wahibugh, about 6 km from Pulwama town, hit the streets to protest against dumping of garbage in Pohnad area in the village by Muncipal Committee Pulwama. The protestors were demanding that the dumping site be shifted to some other places.
The protestors tried to stop a garbage truck and pelted stone on it. However, police personnel escorting the truck fired pellets to disperse the demonstrators.
They said a youth was injured in the incident. “The youth was rushed to the District Hospital Pulwama with multiple pellet wounds,” they added.
