Srinagar, Jul 18: A drug peddler was arrested and recovered contraband substance in Srinagar, a police spokesman said on Thursday evening.
He said police established a checkpoint near Syed Mansoor Bridge in the down town city under police station Karan Nagar. A motorcyclist identified as Ishaan Najar, son of Ghulam Qadir Najar, resident of Pather Masjid Zaina Kadal was intercepted and during the frisking charas was recovered.
He was later arrested and motorcycle seized, spokesman said.
Case FIR No. 29/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Karan Nagar and investigation has been taken up.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
