Srinagar, Jul 23: A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel allegedly committed suicide by shooting self in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara, official sources said on Tuesday.
They said a 42-year-old jawan, who was posted in Nowgam sector in Kupwara, allegedly committed suicide by shooting self with his service rifle in a room at the BSF camp late on Monday evening.
“Other jawans rushed to the room and saw the jawan, Ravinder Kumar, in a pool of blood,” they said, adding he was immediately taken to a medical facility where he was declared brought dead.
It was not immediately clear why he took this extreme step, they said, adding police has registered a case and initiated investigation to ascertain the circumstances which forced him to commit suicide.
