Look into cases where innocent Kashmiris are languished in jails, Mehbooba to Shah

Srinagar, Jul 24: Reacting to Jaipur High Court acquitting three resident of Srinagar booked in Lajpat Nagar and Samleti bomb blast cases, former J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti appealed Union Home Minster Amit Shah to look into cases where innocent Kashmiris are languishing in jails on unproven charges.
Ms Mehbooba, who is the president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that she is glad to know about the acquittal of the three Kashmiris.
However, she said justice delayed is justice denied.
“Justice delayed is justice denied. Glad to know about their acquittal but the precious time they lost cannot be compensated for. Appeal @AmitShah ji to look into such cases where innocent Kashmiris are languishing in jails on unproven charged,” Ms Mehbooba wrote on microblogging site twitter.
The Rajasthan High Court acquitted Lateef Ahmad Waza, Mirza Nisar Hussain and Ali Muhammad Bhatt, all residents of Srinagar, saying the prosecution had failed to provide evidence of conspiracy. The trio was booked for Lajpat Nagar and Samleti bomb blasts, which took place in 1996.
