Srinagar, Jul 24: A minor boy drowned while another was rescued after they slipped into river Jhelum in north Kashmir district of Bandipora.
Official sources said that two minor boys, identified as Mohammad Kafeel and Mohammad Shafiq, were on Wednesday playing on the bank of Jhelum when they slipped and fell into the river in Bandipora. “Other people present at the spot jumped into the river to save the minor boys,” they said.
They said the locals were able to save Kafeel while Shafiq drowned. “An operation has been launched to recover the body of the minor boy,” they added.
