Srinagar, Jul 25: Body of a minor boy, who drowned in Jhelum in north Kashmir district of Bandipora, was recovered from the river on Thursday.
Official sources said that two minor boys, identified as Mohammad Kafeel and Mohammad Shafiq, were on Wednesday playing on the bank of Jhelum when they slipped and fell into the river in Bandipora.
“Other people present at the spot jumped into the river to save the minor boys,” they said.
They said the locals were able to save Kafeel while Shafiq drowned. “An operation was immediately launched to recover the body of the minor boy,” they said, adding after tireless efforts the body of the minor was recovered this morning.
They said after completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the minor was handed over to his relatives for last rites.
