Srinagar, Jul 31: Alleging that regional political parties are creating fear psychosis for their political interests, BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav on Wednesday said the Narendra Modi-led government would take necessary steps to benefit the people of the state at an appropriate time.
Mr Madhav, who is currently visiting Kashmir valley, said this while responding to a question on whether the centre had any plans to scrap Article 35A, which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
“BJP’s stand on revoking Article 35A of the constitution is very clear, but it is not the BJP which if going to decide. The Prime Minister and his government will decide on this issue. But let me assure you that whatever decision the Modi government takes, it will be in the interest of the state,” Madhav told reporters here.
Hitting out at regional political parties, he alleged that they (politicians) are creating an atmosphere of fear in Kashmir by associating the movement of additional paramilitary with other issues to save their political turf.
“The regional parties are creating fear psychosis for their political interests,” he said.
He said moving forces in and out of Kashmir as per the requirement of the security grid is an ongoing process. “Extra forces are brought in for many reasons, like Amarnath Yatra or elections. But linking the movement of forces with other issues is being done for personal interests,” he said.
People in Kashmir valley have been on the edge from last few days after 100 paramilitary companies have been sent to the valley, giving rise to speculation New Delhi might repeal Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution, which provides special rights to the state subjects.
Several orders given by different security agencies have further fueled the speculations in the valley, where people have resorted to panic buying essential commodities, fearing trouble after August 15.
