Srinagar May 15: Amid Covid-19 scare and Lockdown across valley the Irrigation and flood control department employees at Shivpora Srinagar continues their work to complete the River Side Embankments as a good gesture for the locals.

Officials said that on 21st January 2020 the RS Embankment at Shivpora got sloughed which caused a huge threat to the inhabitants then IFC deptt has taken the work in hand and restore the site temporary for the locals.

IF&C Department adopted new technology to complete the project as department preferred to use machine power viz Geosynthetic Technology for permanent restoration of the sloughed breach the proposal has been reanalysed by the expert and had recommended some changes in the proposal.

Mr. Shahid Ahmad Mir technical expert of Geosynthetic technology said to our correspondent that the technical supervision by the Geosynthetic expert has been almost completed and the locals appreciate the work our department IFCD is very thankful for their great efforts towards all of our workers, Contractors here, The Geosynthetic technologies is completely environment friendly it is mandatory to keep our environment neat and clean.

Mir further said that the expert has worked on some other sites in Kashmir also viz Pendabooni hajin, Bagintar hajin under irrigation and flood control division sumbal and Lasjan Srinagar using the same technology of Geosynthetics. The sites are performing well with satisfactory results till Date we like to conclude other departments that they should also explore this new technology for the betterment of inhabitants living in and around the construction sites.
