Srinagar, May 19 : Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu on late Tuesday evening said that the administration should announce immediate compensation and should extend all possible assistance to the affected families whose houses were destroyed during gunfight at Nawakadal area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar District.Taking to his Twitter handle SMC Mayor Junaid Mattoo said , deeply saddened to see the specter of devastation at the site of today’s encounter in Nawakadal Srinagar, he said almost a dozen families have been left homeless and devastated.
Pertinently, An MBA passout student turned militant Junaid Ashraf Sehrai, son of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai was killed along with his associate Tariq Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Pulwama were killed in a gunfight at Nawakadal locality of Srinagar on Tuesday.Post Gunfight, Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh while addressing media said , Hizbul Mujahideen’s divisional commander for Central Kashmir Junaid Sehrai was killed. “Sehrai was assigned the task of heading Central Kashmir areas,” he said.The DGP said both militants were tasked to lure youth into militancy and for grenade throwing. “Sehrai would hold meetings with the youth and lure them towards militancy,” he said.
