The meeting was chaired by SSP Shopian Sh Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary-JKPS. The event witnessed the active participation of representatives, elders, and other respectable citizens from Shopian town, who raised various community-centric issues and shared their suggestions for improving public safety and welfare.

SSP Shopian gave a patient hearing to all the grievances and assured the participants that genuine concerns would be addressed on priority, while other issues would be taken up with the concerned departments for prompt resolution.
In his address, SSP Shopian emphasized the significance of community policing as a collective responsibility. He appealed to parents, teachers, civil society members and local influencers to play a proactive role in guiding youth and discouraging teenagers from driving two- and four-wheelers, in order to prevent road accidents and safeguard lives. He further underlined the importance of social awareness campaigns to keep the younger generation away from drugs and other anti-social activities.
SSP Shopian also sought the cooperation of locals in maintaining law and order, ensuring traffic discipline, curbing the drug menace and identifying anti-national or anti-social elements who attempt to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the area. He reiterated that policing can be most effective when the community and police work hand-in-hand in a spirit of trust and cooperation.
